AwesomeCon

AwesomeCon truly does live up to its name!  The whole weekend was a blur of amazing cosplays, friendship, vendors selling beautiful merchandise, and a great celebrity lineup.

I wore Ty Lee on Friday,

Liv on Saturday,

and Lazy Day Thor on Sunday.

I had a lot of fun interacting with people in each cosplay.  I hugged a Baymax,

And fought Tenzin.

As Liv, I fed a lot of people my brains (who knew brain was such a popular delicacy among con-goers?)

Starlord doesn't want Baby Groot eating brains

As Thor, I watched and laughed as many failed to hold Mjolnir, my hammer...

…although a few were able to do so!

Of course Wash is worthy

I also had some fun interactions with other Marvel Cosplayers.

Don't fight, guys!

I was so happy that the convention center had Gluten Free food options!  I think it was appropriate to eat spicy food in my Liv cosplay.

The celebrity guest lineup was pretty impressive this year, too!

I met Mark Pellegrino (Lucifer in Supernatural)

Amber Benson (Tara in Buffy)

Casper van Dien (Starship Troopers)

George Takei (Star Trek)

Oh My!

Allison Mack (Smallville)

And Alex Kingston and Arthur Darvill (River and Rory in Doctor Who)

They are worthy of the hammer!

I got to have a fun conversation with Alex Kingston.  She is the most absolutely genuine person I’ve ever met.  She said that she loved my costume (Ty Lee), and asked if I had made it.  She seemed impressed when I said yes, then she held up a finger, wiggled it, and said, “Turn around.”  I turned a brief circle, and she started complimenting my outfit.

She then turns to my friend, who was cosplaying River Song, and goes, “OH!  Hello, me!!!”  She even recognized that the dress was screen accurate, and was impressed with the detail of my friend's cosplay.

My friend is the River on the right

She cared about everyone she met and seemed actively interested in interacting with each one.

In addition, I had fun conversations with other celebrities, including: Grant Imahara (Mythbusters), Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob), Dina Meyer (Starship Troopers), William Shatner (Star Trek), Brian Tee (Mortal Combat, TMNT), John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones, LotR), and Rikki Simons, who did his Gir voice for me!

The con never seemed to stop bustling.  There were so many great vendors this year, so much to look at!  The wonderful Tee Turtle was there, and may have taken some of my money.  So many unique prints for sale, action figures, old, rare video games (I’m talking SNES games here), amazing leather jewelry, comics, chain mail jewelry, hair bows and bow ties, dresses, leather garb, and so much more.

A constant buzz, AwesomeCon definitely did not disappoint on the cosplay scene.  I wish I could share all of my photos!  Instead, I can only share a few of the ones that popped out at me.

Niece from Finding Nemo

Nightwing

The Terminator

Space Marine

Invader Zim

Scrooge McDuck and family

Definitely go next year!  You won’t be disappointed by the Awesome!
